Being homeless can have a huge mental impact on oneself. It is stated that the biggest problems, includes depression, anxiety, mood swings, bipolar symptoms and the worst of all suicide. This is because the youth face more family conflict, neglect, and abuse than any other age group. What makes it even harder is that they are too young to be dealing with these situations, most of the time they don’t even know how to deal with it. It is explained that youth who are homeless for more than six months have a bigger struggle with mental health and lack social support than youth who are homeless for less than 6 months.
