Youth LGBTQ homelessness is a result of homophobia and transphobia at home and in homeless shelters. I found it hard to believe that some homeless shelters lead to homelessness, because I expected that if you are homeless you would seek safe refuge there. But that isn't the case with these youth LGBTQ homelessness. I was also surprised to read that some consider the streets safer then shelter homes. This is because of the homophobia and transphobia violence that they face in those shelters, this can be avoidable if shelter providers knew how to deal with situations like those. In conclusion, shelters are not always considered a safe place, and suggest that shelter providers should be educated on how deal with situations including homophobia and transphobia.
